The Brief
Two global beauty brands required premium metallic finishes for their cartons while improving recyclability and reducing the environmental impact associated with traditional foil blocking. Both brands required a premium appearance, strong shelf presence and reliable performance across large production volumes.
The Challenge
Traditional hot foil can impact recyclability and increase material usage. The challenge was to achieve the same premium metallic effect using more recyclable processes, while maintaining colour consistency, fine detail and production efficiency across high-volume runs.
The Solution
Beamglow worked with two different metallic finishing technologies depending on the design and product requirements.
For one brand, a specialist board was used where a metallic effect is transferred to the board and overprinted to create metallic colours and finishes while maintaining recyclability.
For the second brand, in-line cold foil was used, applying foil only where required during the print process. Beamglow’s presses are specifically configured for in-line cold foil application, allowing fine detail and consistent results at production speeds. Both processes require specialist press setup, operator experience and finishing control to run reliably in volume production.
